How to Write a Band 8 Answer — Checklist
Use this concise checklist before writing and after finishing your Task 2 essay.
Before Writing
- Identify task type (agree/disagree, discuss both views, problem-solution, advantage-disadvantage).
- Spend 2–3 minutes planning: choose 2-3 main ideas and examples.
During Writing
- Introduction: paraphrase the question and give a clear position.
- Body paragraphs: start with a topic sentence and follow with explanation and example.
- Use a variety of sentence structures and precise vocabulary.
After Writing
- Check word count and make sure you wrote 250+ words.
- Fix any grammar mistakes and improve two phrases with stronger vocabulary.
